07 Jan Boards, Directors and their Dynamics: A Research Project
My focus in 2020 is on Boards, Directors and their dynamics and behaviours. Those who know me know this to be a topic of great interest. I have spent the better part of 2 years musing on this.
Board and the directors that form them are arguably the most important part of any organisation. Boards, and the Directors that form them take strategic decisions and demonstrate leadership behaviours. Boards and their Directors provide stewardship on topics such as climate change and modern supply chains. This seems significant enough to focus on. Therefore it is important to understand the basis on which
- significant decisions are made
- individual members are influenced and engaged and
- the board approaches its understanding of risk and subsequent response to risk
I’m conducting a research project in 2020. The aim is to understand Boards, Directors and their characteristics more thoroughly. I’ve devised a questionnaire that will gather data on a large group of Directors. This will shape some of the basic questions about the typical characteristics of Boards. The questionnaire will provide data to form the basis of a study. Its my hope that this will likely continue across sectors and countries.
If you are currently a member of a Board, or you know others who are please consider participating. You will only need 20-30 minutes to answer the questionnaire.
I look forward to hearing from you and keeping you up-to-date on this research project.
